Weekly insider activity checklist
This checklist is a simple workflow for reviewing public insider filings each week. It is designed for research and education, not for trading recommendations.
The checklist
- Scan for open-market purchases, especially transaction code P.
- Check whether the insider is a CEO, CFO, chair, director or 10% owner.
- Compare disclosed value with ordinary routine filings.
- Look for cluster activity: multiple insiders around the same period.
- Separate grants, tax withholding and option mechanics from real purchases.
- Open the source filing before trusting any summary.
- Track transaction date and filing date separately.
- Add important tickers to a watchlist so future filings are not missed.
Suggested weekly routine
- Review the largest open-market purchases from the last 7 days.
- Open each source filing and confirm the transaction code.
- Mark companies with cluster activity for deeper research.
- Ignore routine compensation events unless they are part of a broader pattern.
- Update your watchlist for the companies you want to follow next week.

Weekly insider filing review: I am looking for open-market purchases, senior insider activity, large disclosed values, and cluster filings. I ignore routine grants and tax withholding unless there is a broader pattern. Source filings first, summaries second.
